Richards Civil Case 150009634 Court of Appeals, Fourth District, Division three Case No. G059762 Supreme Court of California Case No $280565 Dear Clerk: lam requesting pursuant to Rule 30 that the time to fie my petition for certiorari be extended from November 7, 2023* by 60 days to and including January 6, 2024. No prior extensions have been granted or denied. | wrote a letter to opposing party to see if he would oppose this request and | have not received a response. | require additional time to file my petition because | have been recently incarcerated for alleged civil contempt, which cohtempt i isin dispute, however, the incarceration has caused me to have a handicap because | do not have access to the record in ordér to put my brief together. I require additional time to obtain copies of the record that includes the briefs filed in the state court. Furthermore, the Santa Ana Jail where | am housed tias gone through charges to its’ operations and has limited my time in the law library depriving me of the time | require to research and prepare my brief. | require additional time to research case law regarding the removal statutes. The Jail’s module is limited to one (1) computer. | continue to request additional time and have been denied said requests. | have been diligently trying to work on my petition and require an additional 60 days. This petition deals with statute construction and issues of law and whether the lower courts have discretion to ignore the intent of the Legislature and rewrite the law or give the words an effect different from the plain and direct import of the terms used. Opposing party will not be prejudiced by this extension request. This request is made in good faith and not to delay resolution of this matter The Court of Appeals Opinion affirming the family law court’s'order was décided on May 4, 2023. Rehearing was denied by the Court of Appeals on June 1, 2023. The Supreme Court denied review on August 9, 2023. Note: | would have made copies ‘of the orders, however, the Santa Ana Jail would not allow me access to the copier today and | only have one copy which | require to attach to my Petition. | have included the case numbers of all the court cases in the reference for easy reference and to confirm the dates.
