Ashton J. Ryan, Jr. v. United States
Whether the Fifth Circuit erroneously applied recent Supreme Court precedents in Ciminelli and Thompson, and violated attorney-client privilege in a complex federal criminal case
No question identified. : NOW INTO COURT, through undersigned counsel, comes Petitioner, Ashton J. Ryan, Jr., and moves this Honorable Court for an extension of 2,289 words, over the 9,000 word limit in Rule 33(g), Supreme Court Rules, for a total length of approximately 11,289 for the reasons that this writ application is filed on behalf of Ashton J. Ryan, Jr., age 78, serving approximately fourteen (14) years in a federal medical penitentiary, or a prison attached to one, and his writ application pertains to three major areas for review, for two recent cases of this Honorable Court, Ciminelli v. U.S., 143 S.Ct. 1121 (2023); and Thompson v. U.S., 145 8.Ct. 821 (2025), which were not followed, or were erroneously applied, by the United States Court of Appeals, for the Fifth Circuit, which requires substantial words and space to describe why that was so, in this one-plus month trial, with more than 1,200 exhibits, and about forty witnesses, and voluminous documents (over 10.5 million documents produced by the Government in discovery); that, in addition, a third major error was affirmed by the Fifth Circuit, involving Government violations of Mr. Ryan’s rights to attorney-client privileges and confidentiality, which also takes substantial words and information to present; that the Government stated that it has no objection to the granting of this motion.
